"Food System Mapping in Kanyanya (Kampala)" - Workshop Report.

Food value chains are part of the systemic drivers of urban food and nutrition security. An important part of these value chains are the various informal small actors. These include producers, transporters, processors and retailers. One of the main objectives of the NOURICITY project is to initiate and to implement partnership agreements between different local, national and international stakeholders to improve the urban food system. Therefore, we conducted a workshop as indicated by Work Package 1 of the NOURICITY project. This workshop aims to map the stakeholders of the food system in Kampala and to map the food flows in one of the parishes in Kampala. The parish selected was Kanyanya (Kawempe division). The workshop consisted of two days with two groups of people: the first day for parish representatives and the second day for Kampala and national representatives

Phytosanitary risk perception and management : development of a conceptual framework

This report presents a conceptual framework for assessing and understanding phytosanitary risk perception and risk-management in plant production chains. The framework is based on the Theory of Planned Behaviour. It is explored for three sectors (pot plants, seed potatoes, and tulip bulbs). These explorations show that the conceptual framework can provide insight into the way actors in plant production chains perceive phytosanitary risk and how this affects their risk-management behaviour. The framework provides a useful tool for identifying bottlenecks in actors' phytosanitary risk-management and creating more focus in optimising phytosanitary risk-management in plant production chain

CO2-emissiehandel in 2020 : betekenis voor de Nederlandse glastuinbouw

Het rapport bepaalt de impact van de EU-richtlijn voor de handel in CO2-emissierechten voor de Nederlandse glastuinbouw. Het rapport berekent de kosten die de richtlijn met zich meebrengt voor de sector en bepaalt het effect op de CO2- uitstoot door de sector. Verder bepaalt het rapport het effect op de concurrentiepositie van de Nederlandse glastuinbouw en beschouwt het enige beleidsvarianten. De berekeningen zijn aangevuld met gevoeligheidsanalyse

Meer mogelijkheden voor energiezuinige teeltconditionering : economische perspectieven

In dit rapport zijn de economische perspectieven van energiezuinige systemen van teeltconditionering in de glastuinbouw in kaart gebracht. Voor gewassen waar koelen nodig is, zijn systemen met een warmtepomp energetisch en economisch interessant. Van het teeltconcept 'Het Nieuwe Telen' is systeemvariant 'stap 1-3' (vochtafvoer door buitenluchtaanzuiging en intensiever schermen ondanks de substantiële energiebesparing net niet rendabel, maar wel met een subsidie van minimaal 25%. Systeemvarianten met nog grotere energiebesparing bieden, ook met 40% subsidie, op korte termijn nog geen economisch perspect. Concurrentiemonitor boomkwekerij

Het rapport Concurrentiemonitor boomkwekerij beschrijft de ontwikkelingen in de Nederlandse boomkwekerijsector en vergelijkt de Nederlandse concurrentiepositie met die van de belangrijkste concurrerende landen: Italië, België, Duitsland en Spanje. Het onderzoek is in grote lijnen uitgevoerd op basis van beschikbaar statistisch bronnenmateriaal. Om enige verdieping aan te kunnen brengen in de analyse heeft een expertbijeenkomst plaatsgevonden met kwekers en handelaren die goed zicht hebben op de concurrentiekracht van de Nederlandse sector

On the basis of a literature review from four disciplines - knowledge management, management information systems, operations research and logistics, and economics - the demand for new ICT applications, the supply of new applications and the match between demand and supply are identified.
